Welcome back to Revcontent’s Employee Spotlight! This week, we sat down with Nick Cote, Director of Publisher Operations at Revcontent.
1.) What does a typical day look like for the Director of Publisher Operations?
“Typical” isn’t a word I would use to describe any day at Revcontent with how fast the industry is changing. Some days I’m learning about new product features and brainstorming how to boost their impact across our network while other days I might be more heavily focused on maximizing yield for specific strategic partners. Overall I spend a lot of time communicating and coordinating with our tech, business ops, and sales teams to focus efforts to drive value to our publishers while still ensuring optimal performance for our advertisers. In an increasingly programmatic landscape where incremental revenue drives decisions, staying optimized is key.
2.) How does your role and department assist publishers?
A huge focus of ours is taking the time to understand our publishing partners’ visions, needs, and plans for the future and making sure we’re providing them the best solutions that address both their short and long term goals. We’re able to utilize the knowledge we’ve gained from working with some of the largest properties on the web to provide feedback and work with our publishers to driver higher revenue while improving user experience. At the end of the day when our publishers grow, we grow.
3.) Are there any major projects or events that you are looking forward to in the upcoming months?
Our dev teams are always delivering great tech and industry-first features, but there’s some really groundbreaking social tools for publishers in the works that have me really excited. Publishers shouldn’t need to rely on a single platform to drive user engagement or content consumption in an open web, and we’re working to make that a reality.
We’ll be out at Affiliate World in Barcelona shortly so make sure to meet up with us out there! My favorite events though are when our partners come visit us in Sarasota and we get to show them a bit of our tropical paradise.
4.) What is the most rewarding or challenging aspect of your role?
The most challenging aspect for me ends up being the most rewarding and that’s the degree to which the ad-tech industry is constantly changing. Processes we have in place now may be irrelevant a month from now or we may have to take brand new approaches to doing things. Keeping up with the latest industry trends and incorporating them into our client solutions and operational procedures is never-ending. That also ends up being the best part about it though because every day I leave the office having learned something new that can help us grow.
